Everyone wants beautiful, younger looking skin. Having a smoother and more youthful complexion makes you feel more attractive and self-confident. Whether you are thinking about a facial rejuvenation treatment such as a BOTOX®, Restylane, Hylaform, Captique, or a chemical peel, it is important to have a daily skin care regimen that can help you accomplish your goals. Significant advances in the field of medical skin care make it possible to protect and rejuvenate your skin better than ever before. Dr. DeConti and his staff can help you choose the most advanced products to help you look your best. We carry a full line of skin care products from Obagi and MD Forté®. These products are stronger than what can be purchased at the drug store or cosmetic counter and therefore will provide more dramatic results.

Our goal at DeConti Plastic Surgery is to provide you with the most up to date information and treatment for the health of your skin. Did you know that daily maintenance of your skin could result in decreased risk of skin cancer, wrinkles, blemishes, blotchiness, as well as improvement in your skin texture and tone? In other words, take care of your skin and it can better protect and reflect you!

Obagi® Skin Care

Obagi® skin care products hydrate and renew skin to give you a fresh, youthful appearance. We use Obagi® skin care products to remove damaged layers of skin from the face and other areas of the body. These products not only restore skin to a healthier state, they can also remove blemishes and patches of discoloration including freckles. Obagi® skin care products are unique because they cleanse at a cellular level, which allows them to remove skin discoloration and reverse the damage caused by harmful UV rays. The Obagi® skin care treatment peels away current skin and replaces it with clearer, smoother, and younger looking skin. Achieve radiant results and facial rejuvenation with Obagi® skin care.

The Obagi “Blue” peel is an exciting new way to refresh your skin by removing its wrinkles, age spots, acne blemishes, and scars, and restoring its elasticity. The peel consists of the topical application of a Tricloracetic Acid (TCA) solution. The treatment takes about 30 to 45 minutes to complete and is done in the office. The solution essentially removes the outer layers of the skin, exposing the undamaged layers underneath. This produces firmer, clearer, smoother, healthier and more youthful looking skin. It also can be done on the neck, chest, hands, and arms.

M.D. FORTÉ®

M.D. FORTÉ® products contain alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) to normalize the exfoliation process and increase moisturization of your skin. These processes generally slow down with age and exposure to the sun. AHA loosens the cellular “cement” that binds dead cells together. As the dry outer layer is exfoliated by AHA, younger, healthier, smoother-looking skin is revealed.

Your skin will most likely become softer and smoother within a few days. Improvement will occur with continued use. In approximately 2 to 6 weeks you should begin to see and feel visible results, depending on the condition of your skin prior to use. The look of fine lines will diminish and the overall tone and texture of your skin will become more even. Additionally, glycolic acid peels accelerate the results.

Glycolic Peel

A glycolic acid peel will improve the overall tone and texture of your skin. The appearance of fine lines, age spots, and discolored skin is greatly reduced, and excessive oil in acne-prone skin is controlled. Undergoing a series of glycolic peels will improve the condition of your skin by removing the skin’s outer layers. The newly revealed skin is clearer, more even in tone, and appears more youthful. To achieve the maximum benefit of a glycolic peel, follow a simple daily skin care regimen that utilizes glycolic products selected for your specific skin type.

Botox®

The cosmetic form of botulinum toxin, often referred to by its product name Botox®, is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck. The toxin blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. Studies have also suggested that Botox is effective in relieving migraine headaches, excessive sweating under the arms and in the palms and feet.

Before the Botox® injection, ice is placed on the area to be injected. The patient may experience a small sting, then no discomfort. The effects of Botox® usually last three to four months. After several treatments, the effects may begin to last longer. Botox® is often combined with collagen or other filler to completely remove unwanted wrinkles.

Collagen Injections

Collagen is the fibrous protein that gives skin its elasticity. Collagen injections have been used for decades to replenish the skin's suppleness and to help maintain its youthful appearance. Collagen is a safe, non-surgical treatment that can smooth out fine facial lines, wrinkles, and scars. The effects of collagen injections can last between three and six months. Collagen injections can be repeated as necessary.

CosmoDerm™ & CosmoPlast™

Sunlight, natural aging and lifestyle factors can diminish the collagen layer that supports the skin. When the amount of collagen diminishes, unwelcome lines and wrinkles may appear. CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast contain human collagen grown under controlled laboratory conditions. This human collagen is similar to the collagen normally found in the skin. CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast are injected directly into the wrinkle and act as a filler replacing the lost collagen. They can be used to smooth away telltale lines and wrinkles of the face or add definition to the lip border in just one quick visit. And since recovery time is short, it can easily be done during a lunch hour. Because they are natural collagen products, there is virtually no risk of allergic reaction and treatment results last between three and six months.

Hylaform®

Healthy skin contains important components that keep it supple and young looking. One of these is hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural sugar found in all living cells that helps maintain skin volume by attracting and binding over 1000 times its weight in water. However, with time, sunlight and other factors, the hyaluronic acid in your skin diminishes, your skin loses volume, and lines and wrinkles appear.

Hylaform is a dermal filler made from a highly purified form of hyaluronic acid that mimics the effects of natural hyaluronic acid. When injected just below the surface of the skin, Hylaform adds volume to the skin, smoothing unwanted lines and wrinkles by replacing your skin's lost hyaluronic acid. Hylaform provides immediate, natural-looking results. Treatment and recovery usually take as little as one hour. Hylaform can be used to smooth lines and wrinkles such as smile lines, marionette lines, the lines above your lip and frown lines between your eyes. Over time, Hylaform gradually breaks down and is naturally reabsorbed by your body; therefore, you may require touch-up treatments two or three times a year to maintain optimal correction.

Restylane®

Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds. It is made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA™ or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

Restylane maintains its shape using the body's own moisture. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is hydrophilic or "water loving." As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of hyaluronic acid to bind to water is what helps provide lasting results.

Captique™

Captique™ Injectable is the newest FDA-approved non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid dermal filler. The way your skin looks is directly related to the way your skin is supported. As we age, the natural support layers in the skin break down resulting in the formation of wrinkles. Captique, a clear gel containing a purified form of hyaluronic acid, adds volume lost during the aging process by temporarily smoothing out facial lines and wrinkles. Captique is injected just under the skin’s surface in order to temporarily correct wrinkles.

Radiance®

Radiance is comprised of microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) in an inert, aqueous gel. A synthetic compound, CaHA is identical to the chemical structure of calcium naturally present in the body. Radiance has undergone extensive safety testing, and CaHA has been used for many years as an implant in dentistry and surgery. It does not produce allergic reaction, and no skin testing is required prior to treatment. The Radiance formula is cream-like in texture, and remains soft throughout its life. Following injection, the body forms a tissue matrix around the Radiance microspheres. Radiance is gradually metabolized by the body after about a year.

Sclerotherapy

Superficial leg veins are also known as spider veins, telangectasias, or superficial varicose veins. Leg veins are a common condition among men and women and may be hereditary. There is no known cause for these veins, although they seem to occur after pregnancy or to people in occupations that involve prolonged standing. More economical than lasers, and effective for varicose veins of all sizes, sclerotherapy involves the injection of various solutions that cause irritation to the veins, causing them to close off after about three to six weeks. Some vessels will require more than one injection. About 50 to 80 percent of all veins can be eliminated in one session. Side effects are minimal, but may include temporary swelling and bruising, tenderness, and cramping. The risks, although rare, are discoloration of the skin or ulceration. Aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications have to be avoided for 48 hours, and compression-type support hosiery will need to be worn daily for up to two weeks after treatment. Even with treatment, new veins may develop in other areas.
