The Snowden Pencer Spacemaker® Surgical Balloon Dissector facilitates the creation of the breast implant pocket during breast augmentation surgery. The surgical balloon dissector is placed through the inframammary, periareolar, or transaxillary incision and inflates in less than one minute, completing most of the dissection. It is designed to spread the breast tissues in their natural planes, providing a virtually blood free breast pocket. This may help to decrease the pain of the procedure. The breast implant pocket is predictable and reproducible, and the Spacemaker® avoids over dissection which can lead to implant malposition. The balloon dissectors also preexpand the skin, which may allow the breast implants to settle faster, especially in patients with a very tight skin envelope. Symmetry can also be assessed prior to breast implant placement when both sides are inflated.
